Overview

1993 Mercedes-Benz S 600 W140 (Automatic / 4 Gears) RWD [1991-1994]

The 1993 Mercedes-Benz S 600, known as the “king of the road,” marks the point where luxury and technological power reached their peak for the W140 (Phase-I) series. With the change of the naming system in June 1993, the former “600 SE” took the name S 600, but retained its legendary heart: the 6.0-liter V12 (M120) engine with 48 valves. This engine was so sophisticated that it later served as the basis for the Pagani Zonda supercar. At 394 HP and a power fluidity that resembles the silk movement, the S 600 offered total insulation from the outside world, thanks to double glazing and a complex ADS suspension system. Every detail, from the highest quality leather to the use of exotic wood, proved that this was the best machine money could buy at the time.

Summary

following ProfessCars™ ratings, the S 600 remains a benchmark for luxury limousine performance, achieving 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and an unlimited theoretical speed of 275 km/h. Although its weight of over 2.1 tons is considerable, the V12 engine makes it feel lightweight and extremely fast. Fuel consumption remains the "Achilles' heel," with figures that can exceed 28 L/100km in urban traffic. The starting price in Germany in June 1993 was around 203,780 Deutsche Mark (approximately €104,200), making it an exclusive vehicle only for the world's richest elite. Today, it is worshipped as the masterpiece of Bruno Sacco and as the symbol of the time when Mercedes-Benz spared nothing for quality.
