The 2011 Mercedes-Benz R300 (lwb version), offered on the European market (Generation V251 lwb phase-II), is a luxury Minivan / MPV that differs from the rest of the range due to traction only on rear-wheel drive RWD (2WD) . This vehicle uses the Daimler-Benz M272 E30 engine, an atmospheric 2996 cm3 V6 (90°) Gasoline engine, which produces 231 HP / 228 HP / 170 kW at 6000 engine rpm and a 300 Nm torque at 2500 – 5000 engine rpm. The 7-speed automatic transmission (7G-Tronic) enables an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 222 km/h . The combined consumption is approximately 10.5 L/100km . The car has a length of 5157 mm , weighs 2100 kg (being lighter than the 4MATIC versions) and has a fuel tank of 80 liters .

Summary

The R300 lwb with rear traction is an interesting choice for those looking for maximum R-Class space without the additional complexity and weight of the 4MATIC system. Being lighter, the car feels a little more "agile" at the wheel, although the 3.0L engine is less powerful than its bigger brothers. This model suffers less from the consumption of front tires compared to AWD versions. During the purchase, attention should be paid to the transmission module (ISM) and speed sensors inside the 7G-Tronic gearbox, which are known weaknesses for this production period.
