Overview

2020 Mercedes-Benz S 560 C217 (Automatic / 9 Gears) RWD [2017-2021]

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz S 560 Retractable Coupe (RWD), offered in the European market (Generation C217 phase-II), represents the classic variant of this luxury Grand Tourer. This model uses the M176 DE40 AL engine, a 3982 cm3 V8 BiTurbo petrol engine, which develops 469 hp / 463 hp/ 345 kW at 5250-5500 rpm and a 700 Nm torque at 2000-4000 rpm. Thanks to the absence of the 4MATIC system, the vehicle is about 60 kg lighter than the AWD version, weighing 2,000 kg . The 9-speed automatic transmission (9G-TRONIC) enables an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a maximum speed limited to 250 km/h . This variant was often preferred for its more traditional refinement and sense of direction.

Summary

The S 560 Retractable Coupe (RWD) is a rare variant compared to the 4MATIC, but it offers a fantastic balance between performance and weight. This model takes advantage of V8 engine technology that can deactivate four cylinders while walking comfortably, becoming incredibly efficient for its size. OLED backlights are a phase-II standard that give it a futuristic look in the dark. The absence of the B-pillar (pillarless design) gives it an unmatched elegance when all four side windows are opened. AIRMATIC suspension comes as standard, but many buyers of this RWD variant were looking for the MAGIC BODY CONTROL option, which includes the "Curve" function that tilts the car inside the curve for maximum comfort. It is a tool that requires special care for the rear tires, given the great power that is transmitted only on one axle.
